Where sandblasting still makes sense
Blasting is not obsolete. For occasional work on rough, expendable parts, or where you actually want a roughened anchor profile for a thick coating, a blast cabinet is cheap and effective. The downsides, media cost, grit disposal, dust containment and surface damage, only dominate when you clean often or clean parts where the substrate matters.
