Marking precious metals with a fiber laser
Gold, silver, and platinum all reflect the 1064 nm fiber wavelength, with silver being the most reflective metal there is. The trick for jewelry is not raw power but control: a fine focused spot at lower power produces crisp, shallow marks, hallmarks, serial numbers, and personalization, without melting or distorting delicate pieces. A MOPA source gives the cleanest, most repeatable results across karats and finishes.
