The five things included on every galvo machine

1. Two field lenses of your choice — pick any two sizes at checkout (70, 110, 175, 210 or 300 mm). The lens sets your working area and detail, so two lenses means two job sizes covered from the start.
2. One rotary of your choice — D60, D80 or D100 chuck, for marking rings, tumblers, bottles and other cylindrical parts.
3. Motorized Z-axis — full electric Z travel as standard, not a manual crank. It sets focus and handles parts of different heights.
4. Laser safety glasses — wavelength-matched (1064 nm for fiber, 355 nm for UV).
5. Foot pedal — hands-free fire control for production.

On top of those five: the marking head, USB and Ethernet cables, a power cable for your region, EZCad software on a USB key (EZCad 2 with every machine; EZCad 3 with fiber), a quick-start guide, a cleaning kit with spare lens wipes, and a wooden shipping crate.

What that actually saves you

The reason this matters is how the rest of the market prices. A machine is advertised at an attractive base number, and then the lenses, rotary and motorized Z — the parts you cannot work without — are added one at a time during the quote. By the time the machine can do real jobs, the price has climbed by several hundred to over a thousand dollars.

Your lens and rotary choices

Lenses run from a 70 mm (tightest detail, smallest parts like jewellery and watch components) up to a 300 mm (largest working area). The 175 mm is the versatile default most shops start with. Rotaries go D60 for rings and small cylinders, D80 for medium parts, and D100 for tumblers and bottles. You choose your two lenses and one rotary at checkout — there is no “base” bundle that quietly leaves out the size you actually need.

Quartz vs K9 field lenses — matched to your power

Not every field lens is made of the same glass, and the right glass depends on how much power the laser puts through it. Sending too much power through the wrong glass is one of the quiet ways a cheap machine disappoints — the lens slowly degrades and your marks lose quality. We match the lens to the machine, so you never have to think about it.

Quartz / fused-silica lenses — best for high power

Fused silica (quartz) has extremely high transmission at 1064 nm and very low absorption, so it stays cool and optically stable even under heavy, continuous power. That is why every fiber machine we sell at 80 W and above ships with quartz (fused-silica) field lenses, and why all of our UV machines use fused silica — ordinary optical glass actually absorbs UV light. Quartz is the lens that holds focus and contrast at power, run after run.

K9 lenses — best for low power

K9 is a high-quality optical glass (the BK7 family) that is cost-effective and performs beautifully at lower power. On a fiber machine under 80 W it is the right, sensible choice — you get excellent marks without paying for optics you do not need. The catch is heat: at medium and high power K9 absorbs more energy, warms up, and can drift and destabilise (a limitation JPT itself flags). So we use K9 only where it belongs, and never on a high-power machine.

The short version: 80 W and up → quartz; under 80 W → K9; UV → fused silica. Either way, the lens that ships with your machine is the correct one for its power — not a cost-cut substitute that fails early.

Cleaning machines are different — and we say so

The two-lens-plus-rotary package is a galvo package — it applies to our fiber and UV marking machines. Laser cleaning machines are a different form factor: they ship with a cleaning head, not field lenses or a rotary, because rotary and lens-size choices do not apply to surface cleaning. We would rather tell you that up front than imply a cleaning machine comes with marking accessories it does not use.

The paid upgrades we don’t hide

Two upgrades are genuine add-ons, and we price them plainly rather than burying them: a 2.5D upgrade ($750, fiber machines) that unlocks programmable Z control inside EZCad 3 for varying depth during a job, and a 3D Feeltek dynamic-focus head ($5,500) for true marking on spheres and complex curved parts. Most buyers need neither — the standard motorized Z already sets focus and handles different part heights. We call these out so you only pay for them if your work truly needs them.

Warranty and delivery are part of the deal

Included pricing only counts if the machine is supported after it arrives. Galvo machines carry a class-based warranty — 3 years on our M7 and M8 sources, 2 years on EM7, 18 months on UV — and every machine ships DDP, so duties and customs are paid before it reaches you. No surprise broker bill at the door.
