Fiber laser engraving has become the industry default for firearm marking because it produces permanent marks on steel, aluminum, and titanium that survive cleaning solvents, holster wear, and decades of use. Compared to mechanical engraving, electrochemical etching, or rotary tools, fiber laser is faster, requires no consumables, and produces marks at depths and character sizes that meet federal compliance requirements without rework.

Yes. Cerakote-safe parameter presets are included with every machine. The laser ablates only the coating where you want the mark and stops at the metal surface, same principle as paint stripping on the cleaning machines, applied at lower power.
Can I do photo engraving on slides for custom builds?
Yes. MOPA pulse control produces grayscale depth maps for photo engraving on polished stainless slides. Recommended power for production-quality photo engraving is 60W or higher; 30W works for one-off custom builds at slower speeds.
How fast can I serialize on a production line?
A typical serial number plus manufacturer info takes 4 to 8 seconds per part on a 60W machine. With auto-load fixtures, throughput on a single machine is around 300 to 500 parts per hour, depending on mark complexity.
Is the laser legal for an FFL holder to operate without additional licensing?
The laser itself is not a regulated device. Operating it for firearm marking on parts that already exist in your inventory is normal manufacturing activity. Licensing depends on your FFL type and your state, consult your compliance counsel for specifics; we provide the equipment, not legal advice.
