We share your information only with the third parties necessary to operate our business and fulfill your orders. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

  • Shipping and logistics partners (international freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers): to ship your order DDP and clear customs for US, Canada, and EU 27 deliveries.

5. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (web beacons, pixels, local storage) to operate the site and improve your experience. The cookies we use fall into three categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: required for the site to function, including authentication, shopping cart persistence, and security. These cannot be disabled because the site cannot operate without them.
  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how visitors interact with the site (which pages are read, which products are compared, where visitors drop off). We use these to improve content and site speed. You can opt out of Google Analytics via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Marketing cookies: only set with your consent. Used to measure marketing campaign effectiveness if we run paid advertising. Currently we run minimal third-party advertising; this category may be inactive on most pages.

You can manage cookies via your browser settings (most browsers let you block or delete cookies). Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may break checkout, account login, and other site functions.

5.1 Do Not Track

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no industry-standard way to respond to DNT signals, so our site does not currently change its behavior in response to DNT. We treat all visitors with the same level of privacy protection described in this policy regardless of DNT setting.

6. Your privacy rights

6.1 General rights (all users)

  • Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Deletion: ask us to delete your personal information (subject to legal and accounting retention requirements described in Section 8).
  • Opt-out of marketing: unsubscribe from any marketing email by clicking the unsubscribe link or emailing info@jpt-laser.com.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@jpt-laser.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

  • Data portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Restriction of processing: ask us to stop using your data while a complaint is investigated.
  • Objection to processing: object to specific uses of your data, particularly direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent: where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint: file a complaint with your local data protection authority. We work with you first to resolve any concerns directly.

Our legal bases for processing your data under GDPR are: (a) performance of a contract for order fulfillment, (b) legitimate interest in operating our business and improving the site, (c) compliance with legal obligations such as tax and customs law, and (d) your consent for marketing communications.

6.3 California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to know: what categories of personal information we collect, the sources, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it. All of this is detailed in Sections 2, 3, and 4 of this policy.
  • Right to delete: ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal retention exceptions.
  • Right to correct: ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt-out of sale or sharing: we do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in the CCPA-defined sense.

  • Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny, charge different prices, or provide different service quality to users who exercise their CCPA rights.

To exercise California rights, email info@jpt-laser.com with subject “CCPA request” and indicate which right you are exercising. We respond within 45 days.

7. Children’s privacy (COPPA)

Our site and products are not directed at children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it as soon as we are aware. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact info@jpt-laser.com so we can investigate and delete.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

  • Order and transaction records: retained for 7 years to comply with tax and accounting requirements in the US and EU.
  • Account information: retained while your account is active. After 3 years of inactivity, we delete account data unless you have an active warranty period or open support ticket.
  • Marketing preferences: retained until you unsubscribe, after which we retain a suppression record (just enough information to ensure we do not contact you again).
  • Support correspondence: retained for 5 years to handle warranty claims and provide service history.
  • Analytics data: aggregated and anonymized analytics retained indefinitely. Individual-level analytics retained no longer than 26 months in Google Analytics (this is the default retention).
  • Server logs: retained for 90 days for security monitoring and abuse prevention.

9. International data transfers

JPT Laser Shop operates from the United States. Our manufacturing partner (JPT Opto-Electronics) operates from China. Our payment processors and analytics providers may be located in various countries. When you submit personal information through our site, it may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States, China, and other countries where our service providers operate.

For transfers from the EEA, UK, and Switzerland to countries that have not received an adequacy decision from the European Commission, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission as the legal mechanism for the transfer, supplemented where appropriate by additional safeguards. By using our site and submitting your information, you understand that your data will be processed in these countries.

10. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:

  • Encryption in transit: all communication with our site uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2 or higher).
  • Encryption at rest: sensitive data stored on our servers is encrypted using industry-standard algorithms.
  • Access controls: only authorized personnel have access to customer data, on a need-to-know basis for performing their job.
  • Payment data: payment card information is processed by PCI-DSS-compliant payment processors; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Regular reviews: we review our security practices regularly and update them as standards evolve.

No system is 100% secure. If you become aware of a security issue with our site, please report it to info@jpt-laser.com so we can investigate and fix it.

11. Third-party links

Our site may contain links to third-party sites (JPT Opto-Electronics, Sino-Galvo, payment processor pages, customer reference sites, forum discussions). This Privacy Policy applies only to our own site; we are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites. Review the privacy policy of any third-party site before sharing your information with them.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or service offerings. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and may notify you by email if you have an active account. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
