How AVK Deep-Engraves Valves for Saudi Desert Service with the 200W M7

The problem AVK needed to solve
Valves installed in Saudi Arabia live in one of the hardest environments a metal part can face: abrasive wind-blown sand, extreme heat, and decades of service underground or in exposed installations. Surface-level marks — printed labels, shallow etching, attached plates — tarnish, wear off or disappear. For traceability and maintenance, the identification on the valve body has to be engraved deep into the hard valve steel itself, so it stays readable for the life of the part.
The second requirement was speed. Valve bodies are large, the steels are hard, and production volumes are industrial. A marking process that is permanent but slow becomes the bottleneck of the line.
The machine
AVK runs the 200W MOPA M7 fiber laser for this work. At 200 watts, the M7 source removes material fast enough to cut deep, clearly defined identification into hard valve steels without multi-hour cycle times — the deep-engraving speed on their steel is what AVK is happiest about. The order grew to several machines, including units for the AVK Saudi Arabian operation, putting the engraving capability in the same region where the valves are built and installed.
