The 50W M8 Fiber Laser is the mid-tier in JPT’s M8 short-pulse architecture line. M8 differs from M7 in two ways that matter for application choice: the pulse width range is shifted shorter (typically 6 to 100 ns versus M7’s 2 to 500 ns), and water cooling replaces air cooling. The shorter-pulse capability is the reason most buyers choose M8 over M7: shorter pulses mean less heat-affected zone, which unlocks glass marking, ceramic processing, and brittle material work that M7’s longer pulses cannot do cleanly.
The 50W M8 sits between our 20W M8 (entry, air-cooled, AC mains) and 120W M8 (production, water-cooled). At 50W the source has enough average power for prototype-to-small-production glass and ceramic work, while staying at a price point that doesn’t require flagship-tier budgeting. Typical workloads include glass bottle marking (decorative and decorative), perfume bottle engraving, alumina ceramic substrate marking for electronics, lithium battery foil cutting at prototype scale, and brittle material processing where M7’s heat-affected zone would crack the surface.

Software and upgrade options
This machine ships with the standard Sino-Galvo SG7110 galvo head and EZCad 2 software included on USB. Two optional factory upgrades extend what the machine can do; either can be configured at the time of order.
Base configuration: SG7110 head + EZCad 2 + LightBurn via adapter
The standard configuration covers all flat-surface 2D marking applications. EZCad 2 is the most widely used fiber laser control software in production environments, with full support for variable text, serialized marking, photo engraving, vector imports, and TCP/IP and I/O integration for production lines. LightBurn is supported via a USB adapter that ships with the machine for operators who prefer that workflow.
2.5D upgrade: BJJCZ G3 Pro head + EZCad 3 (USD 750)
This upgrade replaces the SG7110 with the BJJCZ G3 Pro head and adds EZCad 3 software (included). What you gain: stepped Z-axis control during a single design pass. The laser can mark at two or three different focal heights on the same workpiece without manually re-cranking the Z between layers. Right for stepped workpieces, terraced parts, deep-engraving multi-pass jobs, and any application where distinct height layers need to be marked in one sequence.
Full 3D upgrade: Feeltek FR10-F dynamic-focus head + LenMark (USD 5,500)
The FR10-F steers focus in software (LenMark) and uses no swappable field lens — it is offered in 100 × 100 mm and 200 × 200 mm field sizes.
This upgrade replaces the SG7110 with the Feeltek FR10-F 3D dynamic-focus head and adds LenMark software (Feeltek’s controller-side 3D mapping and design-wrap software). What you gain: continuous focal-length adjustment as the galvo mirrors point the beam across a curved or three-dimensional workpiece. The beam stays at true focus across the full surface in real time, not just one calibrated band.
When to choose the 3D upgrade: production volume on curved workpieces. If you are running dozens to thousands of curved parts per shift (rounded glass bottles, watch case-backs, ceramic vials, headphone shells, lampshades, contoured metal parts), the 3D head pays back through faster cycle time and consistent edge-to-edge focus quality. For one-off curved jobs the standard fixed-focus head with manual Z repositioning still works, but the cycle time per piece is significantly longer. The math typically points to the 3D upgrade once you commit to a recurring production run on curved parts.

Marking area by lens
The included lens choice determines the marking area on the workpiece. Every JPT machine ships with two lenses of your choice from the standard set; the 175 mm lens is included by default unless you specify otherwise at checkout.

Shorter focal lengths give finer beam spots and higher detail resolution at the cost of a smaller marking area. Longer focal lengths cover more area at the cost of slightly softer detail. Most production shops run two lenses (one shorter, one longer) to cover the working range without swapping mid-job.

Both upgrades are installed at the factory at the time of order. Adding either later requires shipping the machine back as a service exchange, which is doable but takes longer than ordering with the upgrade up front. If you know at purchase that you will be marking stepped or curved workpieces in volume, configure the upgrade at checkout.
Shipping and delivery
Lead time: 3 to 4 weeks. M8 sources have lower production volume than M7 at all tiers.
Shipping: DDP free to US, Canada, EU 27. Free shipping rest of world. The 50W M8 crate is heavier than equivalent-power M7 air-cooled machines because of the integrated chiller (~40 to 50 kg shipping weight). DDP transit is approximately 30 days by sea freight to US and Canada or 20 days by rail freight to EU 27, with customs and import duties included in the price. CIF air freight is available worldwide at 12 to 15 days transit if you prefer faster delivery and handle customs clearance yourself. Lift-gate delivery is a reasonable add-on at this weight.

What exactly is the 50W M8 source model?
The full JPT product code is in the YDFLP-50-M8 family (M-R or similar suffix). The exact model is on the source ID plate of each shipped machine; the dedicated 50W M8 datasheet is not in our public reference library at this time. Why is the 20W M8 air-cooled but the 50W M8 water-cooled?
JPT specifies cooling based on average power. The 20W M8 has low enough power that air cooling is adequate; the 50W M8 has higher power density and JPT designed it with integrated water cooling. The chiller is sealed and runs autonomously, so the machine doesn’t add external plumbing to your facility.
Can the 50W M8 do color marking on stainless?
Yes but it’s not the M8’s strong point. For production color marking on stainless steel, the M7 architecture is the standard tool because its longer pulse range gives better control over the heat-affected zone for color development. The 50W M8 will produce color but with less batch-to-batch repeatability than the equivalent-power M7. Choose M8 specifically for glass and ceramic work.
How does this compare to a JPT 50W LP?
Completely different applications. The 50W LP is for monochrome metal marking at budget price. The 50W M8 is for glass, ceramic, and brittle materials. The architectures don’t compete; they serve different work. If your shop does mixed metal-and-glass work, you’d typically buy one of each.
What chiller maintenance is required?
The chiller is sealed at the factory and uses distilled water (or de-ionized water in regions with hard tap water). Quick visual inspection every 6 to 12 months depending on duty cycle. The chiller filter and reservoir maintenance is documented in the quick-start guide.
Can the 50W M8 drill glass?
No. Glass drilling needs the higher peak power of the 120W, 200W or 300W M8; JPT lists glass drilling only for those tiers. The 50W M8 is for glass and ceramic marking and etching. For actual glass drilling, step up to a 120W or higher M8, which is the tier JPT lists for glass drilling. All 50W M8 glass work is marking and etching; drilling is a 120W-and-up M8 capability.
Delivery timeline and customs?
5 to 7 weeks total. Factory build 3 to 4 weeks; DDP transit is approximately 30 days by sea freight to US and Canada or 20 days by rail freight to EU 27, with customs and import duties included in the price. CIF air freight is available worldwide at 12 to 15 days transit if you prefer faster delivery and handle customs clearance yourself. DDP includes customs duties for US, Canada, and EU 27.
