Overview

The 30W MOPA is our most popular entry-tier color marking machine, built around a JPT Opto-Electronics E-series M7 source designated YDFLP-E-30-M7-S-R. At 30 watts of average power with the MOPA architecture’s independent pulse frequency (1 to 4000 kHz) and pulse width (2 to 350 ns) control, this is the sweet spot for boutique jewelry, watch components, small-batch tumbler customization, and color marking on stainless. The tight beam quality (M² less than 1.4) means hue consistency that diode lasers and Q-switched fiber lasers cannot match.

The 30W is a portable machine. At 4.25 kg for the source and 245 by 200 by 65 mm dimensions, the complete chassis fits on a small workbench. Most buyers at this tier are jewelry workshops, watch service shops, custom engravers doing rings and pendants, gun and knife engravers, and SMB tumbler customization. The 30W is also a common second machine for shops that have a higher-power 100W or 200W on the production floor and need a dedicated machine for boutique color work.

Practical guidance: choose the 30W MOPA over the 30W LP if you want color marking and pulse control flexibility; the LP is cheaper but has fixed 200 ns pulse width which limits color and plastic marking work. Step up to 60W E2 if you anticipate larger workpieces (the 60W’s 5 m cable and bigger working envelope handle bigger parts better). Software and upgrade options

This machine ships with the standard Sino-Galvo SG7110 galvo head and EZCad 2 software included on USB. Two optional factory upgrades extend what the machine can do; either can be configured at the time of order.

Base configuration: SG7110 head + EZCad 2 + LightBurn via adapter

The standard configuration covers all flat-surface 2D marking applications. EZCad 2 is the most widely used fiber laser control software in production environments, with full support for variable text, serialized marking, photo engraving, vector imports, and TCP/IP and I/O integration for production lines. LightBurn is supported via a USB adapter that ships with the machine for operators who prefer that workflow.

2.5D upgrade: BJJCZ G3 Pro head + EZCad 3 (USD 750)

This upgrade replaces the SG7110 with the BJJCZ G3 Pro head and adds EZCad 3 software (included). What you gain: stepped Z-axis control during a single design pass. The laser can mark at two or three different focal heights on the same workpiece without manually re-cranking the Z between layers. Right for stepped workpieces, terraced parts, deep-engraving multi-pass jobs, and any application where distinct height layers need to be marked in one sequence.

Full 3D upgrade: Feeltek FR10-F dynamic-focus head + LenMark (USD 5,500)

The FR10-F steers focus in software (LenMark) and uses no swappable field lens — it is offered in 100 × 100 mm and 200 × 200 mm field sizes.

This upgrade replaces the SG7110 with the Feeltek FR10-F 3D dynamic-focus head and adds LenMark software (Feeltek’s controller-side 3D mapping and design-wrap software). What you gain: continuous focal-length adjustment as the galvo mirrors point the beam across a curved or three-dimensional workpiece. The beam stays at true focus across the full surface in real time, not just one calibrated band.

When to choose the 3D upgrade: production volume on curved workpieces. If you are running dozens to thousands of curved parts per shift (rounded glass bottles, watch case-backs, ceramic vials, headphone shells, lampshades, contoured metal parts), the 3D head pays back through faster cycle time and consistent edge-to-edge focus quality. For one-off curved jobs the standard fixed-focus head with manual Z repositioning still works, but the cycle time per piece is significantly longer. The math typically points to the 3D upgrade once you commit to a recurring production run on curved parts.

Marking area by lens

The included lens choice determines the marking area on the workpiece. Every JPT machine ships with two lenses of your choice from the standard set; the 175 mm lens is included by default unless you specify otherwise at checkout.

Shorter focal lengths give finer beam spots and higher detail resolution at the cost of a smaller marking area. Longer focal lengths cover more area at the cost of slightly softer detail. Most production shops run two lenses (one shorter, one longer) to cover the working range without swapping mid-job.

Both upgrades are installed at the factory at the time of order. Adding either later requires shipping the machine back as a service exchange, which is doable but takes longer than ordering with the upgrade up front. If you know at purchase that you will be marking stepped or curved workpieces in volume, configure the upgrade at checkout.

Shipping and delivery

Lead time: 2 to 3 weeks from order confirmation. Every machine is calibrated and tested before crating.

Shipping: The 30W ships free DDP to US, Canada, and the 27 EU member states; DDP means every customs duty and import fee for those zones is paid in advance by us and baked into the listed price. The 30W crate is the lightest in our galvo catalog (22 to 28 kg shipping weight), which is small enough that some carriers handle it as parcel freight rather than full LTL. DDP transit is approximately 30 days by sea freight to US and Canada or 20 days by rail freight to EU 27, with customs and import duties included in the price. CIF air freight is available worldwide at 12 to 15 days transit if you prefer faster delivery and handle customs clearance yourself. Outside DDP zones: free shipping, your side handles customs.

Delivery: the 30W is light enough that some freight carriers handle it as parcel freight rather than full LTL freight; standard delivery is to your business address with tracking from factory dispatch. Specific carrier choice and freight terms vary by destination region; the shipping policy page lays them out by zone.

Warranty

The 30W MOPA includes a 2-year warranty on both the JPT E-series source and the machine. The warranty covers manufacturer defects, source failure not caused by misuse, and the machine’s control electronics and assembly.

Return policy: 30-day window for confirmed manufacturing defects, validated by our engineering team. We cover return freight in the original crate when a defect is confirmed. Buyer-side change-of-mind returns aren’t part of the policy because every 30W is built to order at the JPT factory; this matches standard practice for industrial laser equipment. Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between 30W MOPA and 30W LP?

Architecture. The 30W MOPA (YDFLP-E-30-M7-S-R) has adjustable pulse width from 2 to 350 ns and frequency from 1 to 4000 kHz. The 30W LP (YDFLP-E-30-LP-S) has fixed 200 ns pulse width and narrower 1 to 600 kHz frequency. MOPA opens color marking and plastic marking that LP cannot do well; LP is cheaper for shops doing monochrome deep engraving on metal where fixed-pulse is fine.

Is 30W enough for color marking?

Yes. The 30W MOPA hits the full color spectrum on stainless steel and titanium with the tight M² less than 1.4 beam quality. Color batch-to-batch consistency is excellent at this tier; the 30W is in fact preferred by some jewelry shops over the 100W for color work because the lower power gives finer control on small workpieces.

Why is the warranty 2 years instead of 3?

The JPT source is an E-series M7 (model code starts with YDFLP-E-), which is the lower-cost tier in JPT’s MOPA family. Our warranty matrix gives 3 years on no-prefix M7 sources (no E prefix in the model code) and 2 years on E-series M7 sources. The architecture is the same MOPA family; the warranty tier reflects the source cost tier, not the MOPA capability.

Can this engrave hardened steel?

It can mark hardened steel including tool steel and knife blade material, but deep engraving (above ~0.3 mm depth) becomes slow at 30W on hardened metals. For production deep engraving on hardened tool steel, step up to the 100W or 200W no-prefix M7.

How does this compare to a 20W diode-plus-fiber prosumer marker?

Different category. A 20W diode-plus-fiber prosumer marker is a hybrid system (an infrared diode laser plus a small fiber source), primarily for hobbyist and prosumer wood, leather, and entry metal work. The 30W MOPA is an industrial fiber laser galvo with full MOPA pulse control, designed for production metal and plastic marking, color marking on stainless, and the kind of resolution that diode lasers cannot reach.

When can I expect to receive the 30W?

Allow 4 to 6 weeks from order to the crate arriving at your door. Will I get a customs invoice after the machine arrives?

Not if you’re in the US, Canada, or EU. DDP shipping is our default Incoterm, which means we pay all customs duties and clearance fees as part of the purchase price; no separate invoice from the carrier or customs broker. The 30W’s freight component is small to begin with because the crate is light; the bigger DDP benefit is skipping the surprise customs invoice that other laser sellers leave to the buyer.
